I soon had a lovey golden carp of about seven pounds and settled down for a quiet, uneventful afternoon. Later in the evening I had a screaming run on the ledger rod, but I had the clutch too loose and a bird's nest resulted. By the time I had untangled it, the fish was firmly embedded in a snag, and I had to break the line. Then a couple of fish got off on the float rod.
Once I figure out the correct technique for this venue I might be OK, but at the moment I only go because it is close.
