Like the whole of this summer the day was gloomy, damp, humid and pretty warm. Things started off badly, with both bite alarms not working, and the lake was so full I had no choice of swim. But things gradually got better towards the evening.
I caught six small carp in total, and each one fought so hard I thought it was going to be a much bigger fish. They are lean powerful carp at the fishery, and look in good health. I got rained on, couldn't get my bivvy up properly, and many other things went wrong, but it was good to get back out on a lake again. I still haven't found the venue I want, but Milemead is pretty and tranquil, but the carp are small.
