After about 20 mins, having finally managed to tie a hair rig, it promptly got snapped by some wild carp darting for the snags. Gutted. Then I tried the old faithful spot, and guess what, it did not let me down. Had a small 6lb carp, that was very, very angry.
Went back to my spot at the back by the fishing boat, and soon had a monster snap me up in the snags. Gutted again. Had a few more takes, but I reckoned that I had ruined the swim, so went over to the bay that I caught the twenty pounder.
After half an hour of frustration watching, what was obviously carp, feeding around my float, I just nicked a 14 pounder. It was getting dark, and it got into a real tangle, and it was a job to make sure it did not injure itself. I did not handle the situation very well, and panicked a bit. It was very big and flapping wildly on the bank, where as I needed it to be still to get the hook out. All ended well, but it was touch an go for a while.
Generally, an enjoyable day, once the carp started feeding in the evening.
